Global Survey on KM Capabilities and Impact
We are running a global comparative study on KM capabilities and impact, and working through our country representatives in selected countries. By participating in the survey you will be able to compare your KM strengths against your peers in your own country as well as in the other participating countries.
The survey is based on a peer-reviewed KM capability framework drawn from a review of major KM maturity frameworks and standards. It covers six KM functions and their underpinning enablers ie governance, process, people and infrastructure. For a detailed look into the development process of the framework and sources consulted, please read this white paper:

Any type of organisation is welcome to participate, private or public, small or large. We will only accept one survey return per organisation, however. The survey should be completed by suitably qualified representative(s), such as a KM leader or a senior management team. The survey will take 30-40 minutes for an individual to complete, but can take up to 2 hours if you gather your responses through a facilitated discussion. The second method will give you more reliable responses and can be used to start discussions about improvement areas.
Benefits:
How we will use the data:
Options:
Most organisations will complete the exercise by convening their own internal meetings of knowledge management champions. If you would like the exercise to be facilitated for you, let us know if you would like us or one of our country partners to run the session as a short, paid, facilitated workshop.
We will follow up with a short email interview to gather additional detail on areas of strength.
Participation for 2019 is free of charge. There will be small charge for participation from 2020 onwards, discounted for first wave participants.

Benefits:
- The exercise is an orientation to where you and your colleagues think you are in knowledge management capabilities, aligned with common KM frameworks and standards, including the new ISO standard ISO 30401
- It provides an opportunity to agree on focus areas and priorities for knowledge management development
- The report highlights the main findings of the study for your organisation
- After the study you will have the ability to compare your KM capabilities with other participating organisations, and to filter and compare results on the dashboard
- You will also have the potential to be connected to other organisations (with both parties' consent) to share with each other on areas of strength that you are interested in
How we will use the data:
- Data will be anonymised and names of organisations will not be identified (you will know only your own organisation code)
- We will use the data to compare practices and capability levels across countries and organisation types
